Remember, Jesus said in the book of John 18:36, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders. But now My Kingdom is from another place.”
That tells you that Jesus is talking of a Kingdom that is not in this physical realm, not in the sense realm: it’s not a kingdom you can see, feel, point to or observe. In the line of the Word, when the Jews asked Him, “When will the kingdom come?” He said in the book of Luke 17:20-21, “The coming of the Kingdom of God is not something that can be observed, nor will people say, ‘Here it is,’ or ‘There it is,’ because the Kingdom of God is in your midst.” It’s within you; it’s around you. So the kingdom we are talking about is the Kingdom of God. Aside God’s Kingdom, in the separation, you find another kingdom, which is the kingdom of this world. The Kingdom of God comes with grace, where God rules and dominates. When you talk about God, you are talking about the power of His Kingdom. The Kingdom of God is a spiritual kingdom, an eternal kingdom, an everlasting kingdom, a deathless kingdom. It is not one that fades; it lives and dominates everywhere. So my discussion will come back to it in subsequent chapters of this book.
“My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, my servants would fight to prevent my arrest by the Jewish leaders.” You remember, in one instance, Jesus said, in the book of Matthew, chapter 26, verses 52 to 54, “Put your sword back in its place for all who draw the sword will die by the sword. Do you think I cannot call on my Father, and he will at once put at my disposal more than twelve legions of angels? But how then would the Scriptures be fulfilled that say it must happen in this way?” Jesus knew He is not of this world; He is from heaven; He is of God. He is of another realm: the spiritual realm. He is of the kingdom of God. He will not have to fight the way the world made people fight. He will not have to do things the way the people of the world would do their own things. At the time His arrest was threatened, Peter brought out the sword, remember he was not yet born again. At the time Peter was drawing the sword out to attack the leaders of those who came to arrest Jesus. Peter was not yet born again. Do you draw the sword in your home, in your place of work, on the streets? Even in the campus, there are those who go about with the sword. But mind the Word of Jesus, He said, “Put your sword back to its place for those who draw the sword will die by the sword.” Now you can imagine how many lives have been wasted because they do things in the way of the world, forgetting the word that came to us in the book of Romans 12:2, “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.” People of the world do things in the way of the world, and the way of this world is far from the ways of God. As far as the heavens is from the earth so is the ways and thoughts of the people of the world from the way of the Kingdom of Life and God. Put your sword back, for no one is spared who draws the sword. If you draw the sword, you can never be spared, you will go by the sword. We must prioritize kingdom interests in our living. Tell yourself: “I will prioritize Kingdom interest in my living. The way I do things, the way I conduct myself, I must prioritize the Kingdom’s standard, interest, and the Kingdom’s way of doing things.” The kingdom of God does not destroy; the kingdom of God is not a killer; the kingdom of God does not spread evil. The Kingdom of God is a Kingdom of solution. It came to give solution to the problem of sin, death, anarchy, and chaos. It came to give solution to separation from God and united the people with their Creator, God. The kingdom is not one of reasonings, in a way that is untoward the eternal values. We don’t contradict ourselves in what we proclaim; please proclaim righteousness. For we are never separated from Him, for He has said, “in Him we live, move, and have our being.” (Acts 17:28). We live this life by faith, not by sight. You don’t live in the kingdom by sight, you live it by faith. This is an eternal kingdom; it is the kingdom of God. It’s about righteousness. In the Word of the Lord, from the book of James 4: 1-2, He says, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you? You desire but do not have, so you kill. You covet but you cannot get what you want, so you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask God.” In the way of the world, people fight. When they are looking for the position of the Vice Chancellor of a university, there will be fighting. When they are looking for a position among the Union of Road Transport Workers, their leaders will be fighting. When there are political elections, you know that the people do fight. When there is time to install a new king, you see the people fight and they take themselves to court. That is the way of the world. For they are doing it in the way of their father. We will come to that in another chapter. But we are talking about this Holy Kingdom, and the people there are holy, righteous, and good. When bad things happen to them, they will not blame God. Many blame God; “why me?” they ask. When something happens, circumstances, situations, and trials of life, you hear them blame God. “God, why me? I am being unjustly persecuted”, they say. If that is not enough, a man will blame his wife or the wife will blame the husband, or the children will blame the parents for their inability to make the required GPA, the credit points, for their promotion. But they will never blame themselves. The people of the world will always look for somebody to blame apart from themselves. But the born again people, the Christians, because they are not immune to circumstances and trials, when things happen to them, they do remember Romans chapter 8:28, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love Him, who have been called according to His purpose.” They use that to comfort themselves. The born again is not looking for God to blame. He is not looking for his wife to blame. She is not looking for the husband to blame. The born again students will not be blaming the parents. The world system is different from the way of the Bible, the way of God. And Jesus said, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If it were, My servants would fight to prevent my arrest. My Kingdom is in another place.” It is the Kingdom of God. When you seek that Kingdom, the things the people do outside, the people of the world, what they fight for, what they kill people to acquire, all those things shall be added unto you. “But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you.” (Matthew 6:33). To seek the kingdom means you prioritize God’s kingdom. Put God first! You must put God first; let Jesus be the Lord of your life, your marriage, your business, and your studies. Jesus is Lord! Seek the kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added unto you; success, prosperity, promotion, appointments, all of these things will be added unto you. But those who kill to get these things, will die miserably. Their end is very bitter; they will be engulfed in darkness, the fire of hell will not escape from them, and Hell will be let loose, released to go after them. Seek the kingdom of God. Still in the introduction, that is the kingdom we will be looking into in the months ahead. We want to unveil it, because it’s not coming by sight or by observation. How do you identify it? How do you know it? How do you recognize it? Satan is the god of this world. Who is in the kingdom of this world? The devil! He is reason why you see the killings, the ritual activities, the violence, the earthquakes, the storms, etc. You remember there was a time he raised a storm against Jesus and the disciples when they were traveling in the Sea of Galilee. He is a destroyer; he came to steal, to kill, and to destroy. And when Jesus described the people of the world, He said, “You are like your father, the devil. And the will of your father, you want to carry out. He has been a murderer from the beginning, and he does not tell the truth because there is no truth in him. He is a liar and the father of lies.” Praise be to God!
The other word, Increase. Acts 1:3, “He appeared unto them and for over 40 days he spoke to them about the kingdom of God.” And what was He telling them? In the book of Matthew 28:18-20, “And Jesus came to them and said, ‘All powers in heaven and on earth have been given unto Me. Go into the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you, and surely I am with you to the very end of the age.” For over 40 days, He spoke to them about the Kingdom of God. He kept talking to them about the Kingdom. And throughout this book we will be talking about this Kingdom. That was the last message of our Lord Jesus before He was taken up into heaven. And He said, “Go into the world and make disciples of all nations…” We are to go and make disciples of all nations. The disciples must multiply; the Kingdom must increase. “…disciples of all nations.” You are stopping nowhere; you are unstoppable. “Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe to do all that I have commanded you. And surely I will be with you to the very end of this life. The end of this age.” The Lord will be with you all through your marriage, all through your studies, in your journey, and all through your life. The Lord will be with you; He will never leave you; He will never forsake you. The Word is clear, these are kingdom principles. They are the testimonies we have in this righteous Kingdom, this holy Kingdom. You belong to the best. And what is that best? You belong to the kingdom of God. Though we are in the world, we are not of the world; we are of God. And I tell you greater is He that is in you, than He that is in the world. In this world, you find the devil, sin, sicknesses and diseases, failure and disappointments, limitations and confusion, etc. When some problems emerge, the whole world will gather and they cannot find a solution. The UN, the United Nations, all the world will gather, and yet they won’t be able to find a solution. Imagine the problem in Europe between Russia and Ukraine. The world is just looking; cities are destroyed and lives are lost. In Palestine, the war between Israel and Gaza, the Hamas, lies are being spread; the world is looking. They cannot find a solution. That is the world we are in. But in heaven, there is a solution. When the problem of sin entered, and man was separated from God. God sent His only begotten Son and He came and dealt with the problem of sin and death and united us with the Father. Tell yourself: “I am united with the Father. The Father is in me, and I am in Him.” Because you are a child of God, you have established a relationship; you are born of the King, of the Word, of the Spirit, and of Heaven. You belong to the Kingdom of Heaven and you are born of this Kingdom. You are fearfully and wonderfully made because you are born of this Kingdom. That is the Kingdom we are talking about and it will increase, multiply, and fill everywhere. And you can connect that to the book of Genesis 1: 26-28, “Then God said, “Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over the cattle, over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in His own image; in the image of God He created him; male and female He created them. Then God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it; have dominion over the fish of the sea, over the birds of the air, and over every living thing that moves on the earth.” The command God gave in Genesis is the same command Jesus gave when He was leaving this world. God said, let us create man, and man was created in the image and likeness of God. And God blessed them and He spoke to them. Now you are hearing His voice. This voice is not my voice, it is the voice of God. You hear the voice of God through the voice of the Word. I’m not talking about myself; Am I telling you about my parents? Am I telling you about my mother? Am I telling you about my education? About my wife and our children? Or my brothers and sisters? Is that what I’m telling you? I’m telling you about God! The voice you are hearing is the voice of God, and the voice of God comes to you in the name of Jesus. When it comes, it revives and quickens you, causing new life to come to you. You experience the new life; where there is sickness, it will drive away the sickness; where there is helplessness, it will bring hope; it will rejuvenate, quicken, and empower you, bringing change to your life. The Word that was given in the garden is the same Word that was given on Mount Galilee. And Jesus came to Galilee, as He was about to depart this sinful world and He told the disciples, ‘All powers in heaven and on earth have been given unto Me. Go into the world and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit…” You see that the Trinity is involved; the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. The Father brought about the plan, Jesus executed it, and the Holy Spirit is applying it daily to our lives. For there are three that bear witness in heaven; the Father, the Word and the Holy Spirit. When they are received, there is a miracle. God blessed them in the garden, and today we are blessed. “Thanks be to God who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” (Ephesians 1:3). I say to you, you are the one that is blessed. The Word blesses you in the name of Jesus. So go and multiply disciples, let your disciples increase. Be blessed, be fruitful, and increase in number. After you bring increase to the kingdom, you are bound to increase; you cannot stop increasing. You will increase in every sphere of life. You will grow to maturity, so when circumstances and situations come, you will say boldly like that strong believer, “For me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.” He is not speaking like the immature, that young convert, that young believer who is just born again, for all things work together for good to them that love God, who are called according to His purpose. This mature believer, the one that has become strong in Christ, who has remained steadfast in his faith’s development and growth, he said, “For me to live is Christ, to die is gain.” In the multitude of trials that he faces, he has realized that he will count it all joy like in the book of James: 1:2-4, “My brethren, count it all joy when you fall into various trials, knowing that the testing of your faith produces patience. But let patience have its perfect work, that you may be perfect and complete, lacking nothing.” You will be mature and perfect, in the name of Jesus. The word perfect means maturity. You must keep growing as a believer. You must keep increasing; growing in faith, steady and steadfast in your meditation, in the studying of the Word, in preaching the gospel, ready to multiply the Kingdom of Heaven, and ready to make disciples. Making disciples is an evidence of growth. When you are making disciples, it means you are growing. It is not babies that make disciples, it is the mature. Do you see babies getting married? Babies don’t get married, it is the mature people that will get married and become fruitful and increase. And Jesus said it in verse 19, “…teaching them to obey all that I have commanded you.” What are we asking from our Lord? Do you know what He has commanded you? Your testimony is love. John 13:34-35, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” That is the commandment. Release all those you are nursing hatred, wrath, animosity, bitterness, and unforgiveness towards. Go and forgive them! If anyone has offended you, forgive him, and your heavenly Father will also forgive you, then you will be true disciples of the Father. Be a true disciple. Then you must also bring people who will be like you; a true disciple will make other disciples. So make disciples! That is the teaching, the command He has given to us. We must increase; the disciples must multiply. And their increase is a testimony that we have not abandoned and left the work that the Father, the Master gave to us. We are working in harmony, in agreement with the eternal principles of the Kingdom of God.
For the believer who wants to live a Kingdom life – multiply disciples everywhere and teach them to be fruitful Christians and enjoy God’s presence all through life – this book will be a sure comapanion on the subject.
